Overview
Hurlburt Field (KHRT) is a military airfield in Mary Esther, Florida, home to Air Force Special Operations Command activity and a single 9,600-foot concrete runway capable of handling heavy fixed-wing traffic. Access is restricted to military aircraft only, with prior permission required for all transient operations. Civilian dispatchers and DOs will not find scheduled customs, general aviation services, or public access at this field.
Hurlburt Field has one paved runway, 18/36, 9,600 ft long and 150 ft wide, with a concrete surface.

Hurlburt Field has published operating constraints in four categories: access, runway notes, environmental and other notes.
A++ fuel requires 24-hour prior notice.
Transient alert: transient aircraft must have PPR and use the Flying-the-Green (FLW-ME) procedure to parking; service is available from 1300 to 0500Z+1. Transient alert will not support local flights, round robins, or back-to-back transient aircraft. Fleet service is available from 1500 to 2200Z+1.
Restriction: PPR is required, including scheduled AMC missions, due to limited ramp space; transient aircraft parking is limited. A 24-hour prior notice is required through base operations. PPR is valid for plus or minus 1 hour of the requested time. Coordination of PPR outside the approved time block must be done by phone. The airfield is subject to closure without notice.
Customs, agriculture, and immigration services are available for aircraft supporting AFSOC operations, requiring 24-hour prior notice. All other aircraft must clear customs prior to arrival at Hurlburt Field.
Miscellaneous: passenger processing requires 24-hour PPR.
Restriction: takeoffs and landings are limited to one within one hour of sunrise/sunset during BASH Phase II. Touch-and-go landings are not authorized during this window, and low approaches are restricted to 500 feet AGL. Full-stop taxi-back for onloading or offloading personnel is authorized, except that rotary-wing and tilt-rotor operations conducting required training below 1,000 feet are authorized. Crews will exercise due diligence.
Miscellaneous: vehicle transportation is available Monday through Friday from 1100 to 0500Z+1, and Saturday through Sunday from 1200 to 2100Z+1. For after-hours, weekends, or holidays, prior notice is advised.
Restriction: transient airlift aircraft engine-running offloads are not authorized without prior approval from 1 SOLRS/LGRDA.
Bearing strength for runway 18-36: single wheel 174, twin wheel 352, twin tandem 495, dual tandem 794.
Restriction: all transient aircraft flying local area missions must contact command post prior to takeoff or as soon as possible afterward. All transient aircraft supporting special operations must contact Chindit Ops 30 minutes prior to ETA. The compass rose is limited to tow-in and tow-out only. The runway 18 displaced threshold may be used by base-assigned aircraft for takeoff and rollout; contact the tower to request back-taxi.
Caution: a VFR corridor exists 1.2 nautical miles south of the runway. An 80-foot crane, present intermittently, is located 3,000 feet south and 1,000 feet from the extended runway centerline.
Restriction: the unlighted displaced threshold on runway 18 may be used by base-assigned aircraft for takeoff; contact the tower to request back-taxi.
Caution: runway 18/36 has non-standard shoulders, 16 feet wide.
Runway restriction: no U-turns between taxiway B and C; there is a pavement failure on the west edge of the runway south of taxiway Bravo.
If bird condition is elevated to severe, comply with SOW BASH plan restrictions. The aerodrome is for official business only.
JASU equipment available: A/M32A-86D, A/M32A-95, MEP-360A.
Fluid service: Presair LOX and LPOX available. LOX is not available for F-16, F-15, F-18, A-10, and T-38 aircraft.
Oil grade O-148-156, SOAP-monitored.
Miscellaneous: aircraft with distinguished visitor code 7 or above must contact command post 30 minutes prior to ETA. All transient aircrews must check in with base operations before departing the flight line. No classified materials are available for transient issue. Limited storage for material up to Secret classification is available at base operations, with additional storage available at command post. For COMSEC matters, contact the wing COMSEC office.
Miscellaneous: Top Secret and additional storage is available at command post. Aircrews should note that US Customs Service is not immediately available. All customs support must be pre-coordinated. Aircraft arriving on weekends must coordinate support no later than 1500 local on the preceding Friday. Transient aircrews planning local sorties must bring a cell phone to provide command post a 24-hour point of contact.
Miscellaneous: C-5 and C-17 aircraft parking is not available.
Restriction: taxiing aircraft may conduct engine run-ups at the following locations, provided the aircrew has cleared the area and applied any specific aircraft restrictions: taxiway Alpha, Delta, Foxtrot, Golf abeam Bravo, and Golf abeam Delta, with the flare ramp clear of aircraft and personnel.
Restriction: the compass rose is available to wing-assigned aircraft only.
Restriction: maximum power engine runs are not authorized on parking spot Hotel 2.
Restriction: wing walkers are required when taxiing north from parking spot E-6.
Caution: expect pattern availability and delays when R2915A/B airspace is active.
Miscellaneous: airlift mission support is limited to a working maximum on ground of one aircraft.
Caution: the left-side VFR hold position sign is missing at taxiway C, the hover points, and the taxiway H intersection.
Miscellaneous: airfield weather is monitored by an AN/FMQ-19 automated observation system, augmented by a human observer 24 hours a day.
Simultaneous parking on taxiway A arm/dearm and taxiway A explosive cargo area ECA 500 is prohibited.

No. Hurlburt Field is a private-use military airfield, and access is military aircraft only. Transient aircraft must have prior permission required (PPR) before arrival, coordinated through base operations at least 24 hours in advance. The airfield supports Air Force Special Operations Command missions and does not accommodate general civilian traffic. Ramp space is limited, and transient parking is restricted, so PPR coordination is mandatory rather than optional. Aircrews should also expect the field to be subject to closure without notice.
Hurlburt Field's single runway, 18/36, is 9,600 feet long, 150 feet wide, and surfaced in concrete. This length supports heavy fixed-wing types associated with special operations and airlift missions. The runway has non-standard shoulders that are 16 feet wide, a detail crews should factor into taxi and edge clearance planning. A displaced threshold on runway 18 may be used by base-assigned aircraft for takeoff and rollout, but back-taxi requires coordination with the tower.
Customs, agriculture, and immigration services at Hurlburt Field are available only for aircraft supporting AFSOC operations, and even then require 24-hour prior notice. All other aircraft must clear customs before arrival at Hurlburt Field, since the service is not immediately available on-site. The nearest full customs facility is KPNS, located about 25.9 nautical miles away. Crews arriving on weekends must coordinate any customs support no later than 1500 local on the preceding Friday.
Hurlburt Field (KHRT) stocks A++ grade fuel, which includes Jet A, but it requires 24-hour prior notice before uplift. There is no walk-up fuel service given the base's military use and restricted access. Operators planning a fuel stop should build the notice requirement into their PPR request rather than treating it as a separate step. Because the field operates under military and special operations priorities, fuel support cannot be assumed to be immediately available without advance coordination.
Hurlburt Field limits transient aircraft to Flying-the-Green (FLW-ME) taxi-to-parking procedures, with servicing available only during specific hours, and it does not support local flights, round robins, or back-to-back transient movements. Aircraft flying local area missions must contact command post before takeoff or as soon as possible afterward. Aircraft supporting special operations must contact Chindit Ops 30 minutes prior to ETA. C-5 and C-17 aircraft parking is not available. Airlift mission support is limited to a working maximum on ground of one aircraft.
