Operating constraints

Pearson Field has published operating constraints in four categories: access, runway notes, noise procedures and other notes.

Access

Prior permission is required to access the air museum taxilane.

Contact the airport manager for transient overnight fees and prior permission for extended stays.

Runway notes

Stopway at the west end of the runway.

PAPI on Runway 26 and MIRL on Runway 08/26 are pilot-activated via CTAF.

A 16-foot dike is located 115 feet from the runway; a 6-foot fence is located 130 feet from the runway.

The VASI on Runway 08 is unusable beyond 6 degrees left or right of the runway centerline.

The approach slope is 44:1 at the displaced threshold.

Noise procedures

Fly quiet. When operating over the runway centerline or its extension, maintain at or below 700 feet MSL due to traffic and wake turbulence from aircraft overflying to and from Portland Intl Airport (PDX) Runway 10L/28R. The PDX Runway 10L/28R extended centerline crosses the Pearson Runway 08 threshold. On Runway 26, maintain runway heading until past Smith Tower, then turn right west of the tower and the national park. Avoid overflying the Fort Vancouver Stockade (National Park), located 360 feet north of the west end of Runway 08. Monitor CTAF 119.0.

Other notes

Self-service fuel is available by credit card H24.

Geese are present on and in the vicinity of the airport.

Arriving aircraft must contact CTAF before entering the SFRA under FAR 93.163, and departing aircraft must contact CTAF before takeoff.

Helicopter hover-taxi operations are not authorized.

Frequently asked questions

What fuel is available at KVUO?

Pearson Field (KVUO) offers 100LL only, dispensed through a self-service credit card facility available H24. There is no Jet A on the field, so jet operators must plan fuel stops elsewhere.

Are there airspace or noise procedures specific to Pearson Field?

Yes. Aircraft must contact CTAF before arrival, entering the SFRA under FAR 93.163, and before departure. Traffic overflying the runway centerline or its extension must remain at or below 700 feet MSL due to Portland International arrival and departure traffic and wake turbulence.

Is customs clearance available at KVUO?

No customs service is located at Pearson Field itself. The nearest customs facility is Portland International (KPDX), about 3.15 nautical miles away, and international arrivals should plan clearance there instead.
