Overview
Tinker AFB (KTIK) is a military installation near Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, operating as a private-use, towered airfield under Air Force control. FAA TFMSC data for 2025 shows 440 business aviation operations against a total of 7,218 annual operations, reflecting a facility built primarily around military transport and training missions rather than civilian traffic. The nearest customs point is Will Rogers International (KOKC), about 10.56 nautical miles away, since customs processing is not handled onsite at Tinker. Two long paved runways, reaching up to 11,100 feet, support heavy airframes including the B-52, B-1, C-5, C-17, C-130, KC-10, and C-135.

Tinker AFB Airport has published operating constraints in four categories: access, runway notes, noise procedures and other notes.
Lighting service: the approach lighting system for Runway 18 is nonstandard for a Category I ILS. The approach lighting system for Runway 13-31 is nonstandard.
Restricted: prior permission is required for transient aircraft; contact Base Operations. Base Operations must be notified of any ETA change of one hour or more, and PPR cancellations must also be reported. No transient aircraft arrivals or departures are accepted from 0530 to 1400Z. Transient aircraft may be permitted only one approach during periods of intense local training.
Miscellaneous: VIP aircraft should contact Base Operations 30 minutes prior to ETA with a firm chock time. Runway 13-31 has a 1,000-foot concrete approach end, with the remaining runway keel in 75-foot concrete and non-keel sections in asphalt. Runway 18-36 has a 1,000-foot concrete approach end, with the remaining runway keel in 75-foot concrete, non-keel sections in asphalt, and the middle 8,100 feet grooved. Taxiway A is closed on the east side of Runway 18-36. Taxiway M is nonstandard due to its 50-foot width. Taxiway C has nonstandard shoulders between the trim pad and Runway 13-31. Hangar space for transient aircraft during inclement weather is extremely limited. Transient service for the B-52, B-1, C-5, C-17, C-130, KC-10, and C-135 is extremely limited, and aircraft should have a crew chief on board.
Caution: a north/south VFR corridor exists from the surface to 3,000 feet, one nautical mile off the departure end of Runway 31.
Caution: unlighted buildings are located northwest, west, southwest, and east of Runway 18-36.
Miscellaneous: anti-icing and de-icing capability for transient aircraft is limited; transient aircrews must contact Base Operations with de-icing requirements prior to arrival. Runway condition code and field condition NOTAM information are not determined or reported. Air terminal service and contingency/deployment operations are available from 1300 to 0100Z daily. Aircraft loading or offloading requests outside published hours require contacting Base Operations. Standard USAF resources are applied.
Noise abatement: practice circling approaches to Runway 18 are prohibited. Night quiet hours are in effect from 0500 to 1200Z, during which practice approaches are restricted.
Caution: exercise care while taxiing. Portions of the ALC ramp, KC-46 ramp, and munitions facility are not visible from the tower. Hold short of the ramp for individual aircraft follow-me assistance.
Traffic pattern: use frequency 124.45 while in the traffic pattern, and monitor 251.05 to the maximum extent possible.
Fluids available: PRESAIR, LHOX, LOX, and LHNIT.
Oil grades 7808 and 23699, hydraulic fluid 5606, and soap 83282 are available; results are available from 1345 to 1730Z and 1830 to 0600Z on weekdays except holidays. Results are not available outside those times.
Transient alert operates from 1400 to 0530Z, offering limited fleet service consisting of lavatory and water service only.
See FLIP AP/1 supplementary airport remarks for additional information.
Caution: unlighted security fences surround the airfield.
For customs, agriculture, and immigration information, see the FCG entry for KTIK.
Fuel service: A++ grade, available for military use only.

Tinker AFB (KTIK) is a private-use military airfield near Oklahoma City. Transient aircraft require prior permission from Base Operations, and arrivals or departures are not accepted during the overnight hours from 0530 to 1400Z. Hangar space and transient services for many military airframe types are extremely limited. Aircrews should coordinate directly with Base Operations before planning any stop.
Tinker AFB (KTIK) lists fuel service as A++ for military use only, so no civilian fuel uplift should be assumed. Transient alert operations run from 1400 to 0530Z and offer only limited fleet service, covering lavatory and water only. Any additional support needs must be coordinated in advance through Base Operations.
KTIK has two paved runways: 18/36 at 11,100 feet and 13/31 at 10,000 feet, both 200 feet wide with permeable pavement surfaces. Runway 13/31 has a 1,000-foot concrete approach end with the remaining keel section in concrete and non-keel areas in asphalt. Runway 18/36 follows the same concrete-keel pattern, with its middle 8,100 feet grooved. These dimensions support the large military transport types based at Tinker Air Force Base.
Yes, business aviation traffic at Tinker AFB (KTIK) is notably concentrated in July, which recorded 98 operations against a monthly range that otherwise stayed between 10 and 62 for the rest of 2025. September also saw a secondary rise to 62 operations. Dispatchers planning transient stops during these periods should expect higher local training activity and coordinate approach expectations with Base Operations accordingly.
