Operating constraints

Restricted: all transient aircraft require 24-hour prior permission through Base Operations. After scheduled closing time and on weekends, contact Base Operations for prior permission. When the tower is closed, pilots must activate REILs for Runway 02 and 20, PAPI for Runway 02, HIRL for Runway 02/20, and centerline lighting for Runway 02; taxiway lights are on CTAF. To activate and increase intensity, key the mic on 118.6: seven times for high, five times for medium, three times for low.
MCAF Quantico and R-6608 lie within the Washington ADIZ. Pilots must adhere to ADIZ reporting procedures in both areas. Taxiway A is limited to runway-to-runway use, daylight, VFR only.
Caution: mandatory runway VFR hold position signs are not co-located with markings on Taxiways A, B, and D. Runway 02 has a 100-foot overrun; Runway 20 has no overrun.
No 180-degree turns are permitted on the runway asphalt.

Caution: Taxiway D surface consists of AM-2 aluminum matting with a non-skid all-weather coating, and has no edge lighting. Taxiway B edge lighting is non-standard for the first 100 feet at the runway entrance/exit on the north edge, located 20 feet from usable pavement.
Noise abatement: the area in and around Quantico Class D airspace is noise sensitive. Helicopters transiting Quantico Class D airspace should do so at or above 1,000 feet AGL.
Bird hazard exists in the vicinity of Runway 02-20 from sunrise to sunset. Heavy migratory bird activity occurs October through March, heavy osprey activity March through July, and heavy eagle activity December through July.
