Operating constraints

Bob Maxwell Memorial Airfield has published operating constraints in five categories: access, runway notes, noise procedures, environmental and other notes.

Access

An unlighted mountain approximately 160 feet MSL is located in the approach zone, 3500 feet from the west end of runway 07 pavement.

For clearance delivery, contact SoCal Approach.

Runway notes

MIRL runway 07/25 is preset to low intensity; activate on CTAF to increase intensity.

Mountains to the west, northwest, and southwest of runway 07 rise up to 280 feet MSL.

Do not confuse the road south of the airport with the runway.

Noise procedures

Noise abatement is in effect: follow the riverbed all the way to the coast before making any turns. Do not fly over houses along the river banks. No early turnouts are permitted prior to reaching the ocean. Skydiving operations run daily from sunrise to sunset. Parachute landings occur on the north side of the runway between downwind and the runway, with no effect on aircraft takeoff or landing that follow the traffic pattern. Use caution while in the pattern.

Left traffic to runway 25 is prohibited for noise abatement.

Environmental

Birds are present on and in the vicinity of the airport.

Other notes

Fuel is available 24 hours: 100LL self-service around the clock, full service from 0900 to 1630, and Jet A from 0900 to 1700.

An 8-foot fence, a road, and a traffic signal of 8 feet or more are located at 345 feet.

A fence and road lie within the primary surface on the north side.
