Overview
North AF Aux, identified as KXNO, is a private-use military airfield in North, South Carolina, roughly 73 nautical miles from Columbia Metro. The field supports intense drop-zone and assault-landing-zone training, with a long asphalt runway alongside a shorter concrete strip used for tactical landings. FAA TFMSC data for 2025 records limited crossing business aviation traffic at this facility, consistent with its restricted military role. The nearest customs point is Columbia Metro (KCAE), about 19.87 nautical miles away, since KXNO has no onsite customs service.
North Af Aux Airport has two paved runways. The longest, 06/24, is 10,003 ft long and 150 ft wide, with an asphalt surface.

North Af Aux Airport has published operating constraints in four categories: access, runway notes, noise procedures and other notes.
Miscellaneous: the assault landing zone runways 05/23 and 06/24 are grooved. The landing zone/drop zone operations facility is limited to advisory service only, with no air traffic control services provided; aircrews must contact Columbia Approach to request or activate an IFR clearance.
Restricted: operations are restricted during bird watch condition moderate, when takeoffs and landings are permitted only if departure or arrival routes avoid identified bird activity, with no local IFR or VFR traffic pattern air traffic control. During severe conditions, takeoffs and landings are prohibited without operations group or group commander approval. Contact the landing zone/drop zone operations facility for the current bird watch condition. A minimum of two weeks prior coordination is required for all users.

For clearance delivery, contact Columbia Approach.
The high-intensity runway lights for runway 06/24 are activated on frequency 120.475.
Caution: intense heavy military jet and miscellaneous aircraft activity conducts numerous cargo and personnel drops, high-speed low-level formation flight, and airland operations. The tree line northwest of runway 06/24 is 750 feet from the runway centerline.
Caution: a large ditch lies 350 feet from the runway 06/24 centerline at midfield on the northwest side. Intense ground training occurs on the reservation. Runway 05/23 is used as an assault landing zone measuring 3,500 by 90 feet.
Restricted: the point of contact is Charleston AFB, 437 OSS/OSO. All aircrews must contact North drop zone on 120.75 or 235.775 prior to reaching 5 nautical miles from North AF Aux. This airspace is subject to restriction by NOTAM. On runway 06/24, no 180-degree turns are to be conducted on the asphalt; all turns should be made on the concrete ends.
Restricted: taxiway Delta is closed during box-in-one operations to the assault landing zone on runway 23.
Runway condition code (RWYCC) is not reported.
Caution: the assault landing zone on runway 05/23 has no distance marker panels.
Noise abatement: overflight of North, South Carolina is prohibited.
The rotating beacon operates during daylight hours while lights are out for training.
See FLIP AP/1 supplementary airport remarks for additional information.
