Transient Alert at Scott AFB operates 1200-0400Z++ on weekdays and 1400-2300Z++ on weekends; closed on federal holidays. Military service at MidAmerica (civilian side) operates 1400-0200Z++, with 24-hour prior permission required outside those hours. Scott AFB requires prior permission for arrival. All inbound passenger or cargo aircraft must contact the 375th Command Post no later than 30 minutes prior to landing. AMC aircraft are restricted during BASH Phase II and when the airport enters Bird Watch Condition moderate or severe.
Scott AFB is restricted: when the airport is at BASH condition moderate or severe, no local IFR or VFR pattern work is permitted. When the airport is at condition severe, takeoff and landing are prohibited without approval from the 375th Operations Group commander. During Phase II, daily BASH windows are estimated as sunrise plus or minus one hour and sunset plus or minus one hour.
Restricted: Scott AFB requires prior permission. The 375th Military Flight Service Section is the sole agent for issuing PPR numbers to military aircraft operating on or from the Scott AFB side.
Military ramps are closed to civil aircraft without prior coordination and a landing permit number on file.
Parking at the 126th Air Refueling Wing ramp is for official business only and requires 48 hours prior permission.
Military support from Scott AFB may not be available on the MidAmerica side of the field without prior coordination through Scott AFB. Prior permission may be issued up to 7 days before arrival.
Fuel service: A++ (military only). Scott AFB fuel service is available 1100Z-0500Z; outside those hours requires 1 hour prior notice.
Hot pit refueling is available to certain aircraft with 3 hours prior notice, with a maximum of 2 aircraft at a time.
Aircraft with wingspans greater than 170 feet are prohibited from taxiing on the Scott main ramp taxi lane without airfield management approval.
A train track is located approximately 1,650 feet from the displaced threshold of runway 32L; the runway 32L approach lighting is interrupted by a passing train.
Both runway ends have 1,000-foot overruns.
The first 6,000 feet of runway 32L is asphalt, and the remaining 2,006 feet is concrete. Locked-wheel turns on the asphalt portion of the runway are prohibited. 180-degree turns on the asphalt portion of the runway are authorized for light and medium category aircraft only.
Dense civilian air traffic is present in all quadrants and at all altitudes. Use caution when using taxiway G, 0.25 nautical miles east of the runway 14R-32L intersection, where a 3-degree grade change and a 70-degree turn are present; oncoming traffic may not be visible due to terrain.
Restricted: full weather service is available 24 hours a day. Building obstructions may impact prevailing visibility between 200 and 320 degrees. ATC will enhance surface observations when the tower-reported visibility is less than 4 statute miles and differs from the reported visibility. Remote briefing service is available from the 15th Operational Weather Squadron; contact the squadron directly.
Each runway has a different level of ARFF support. Runway 14L-32R is treated as a civil airport runway providing FAA Index B support for civil aircraft. Steady-state ARFF coverage for runway 14R/32L provides optimum level of service for aircraft categories 1-6, reduced level of service for categories 7-8, and critical level of service for categories 9-10, applied 0001-2359++ daily.
Caution: unexpected bumps occur on taxiway G between the runways when crossing bridges and tunnels. Use minimum speeds when operating in the area.
