Boeing Field / King County International operates two paved asphalt runways. Runway 14R/32L is the primary runway at 10,007 feet long and 200 feet wide, capable of handling large jet traffic. Runway 14L/32R is shorter, at 3,709 feet long and 100 feet wide. That secondary runway is not available for Part 121 or Part 380 scheduled passenger operations carrying more than 9 seats, or non-scheduled operations carrying more than 30 seats. Both runways are lit, with the main runway's lighting operating dusk to dawn.
Yes, Boeing Field / King County International has onsite CBP inspection services along with a USDA compliance agreement. A flight notification service, ADCUS, is also available for arranging customs clearance in advance. Because BFI sits on the US-Canada border traffic corridor tracked by the FAA, cross-border figures reported for this field reflect FAA TFMSC data rather than total airport activity. Crews planning international arrivals should coordinate through the standard notification channels ahead of landing.
KBFI recorded 44,991 business aviation operations in 2025 out of 60,702 total annual operations, according to FAA TFMSC data. Traffic is not evenly distributed across the year: volumes are noticeably concentrated in the summer and early fall months, peaking in August at 4,576 operations. Winter months see comparatively lighter activity, with February recording the lowest count at 3,036 operations. Dispatchers should expect the busiest period at this Seattle-area field to run from mid-summer through October.
Yes, several taxiways at Boeing Field / King County International carry specific weight and wingspan limits. Taxiway A1 and Taxiway A between A1 and A3 are restricted to aircraft up to 150,000 pounds with a wingspan under 108 feet. Taxiways A2, A4, A6, and B2 are limited to aircraft up to 12,500 pounds, while Taxiway A9 is restricted to aircraft up to 60,000 pounds. Dispatchers routing larger aircraft through the field should confirm taxiway assignments against these limits before filing a ground plan.
Bird flocks are reported in the vicinity of Boeing Field / King County International, and pilots are advised to check local advisories before operating in the area. Extensive helicopter training activity also takes place on Taxiway B, which VFR pilots should anticipate when planning arrivals and departures. Touch and go landings are prohibited between 2200 and 0700 local. The airport also notes a marked and lighted 14-foot antenna located near the Runway 14L end, requiring attention during low approaches on that runway.
