Overview

Beale AFB (KBAB) is a private-use military airfield near Marysville, California, operating under Class C airspace with a control tower and an FAA TFMSC-tracked transient traffic count in the low tens of operations annually. The field sits within a major migratory bird flyway and shares regional airspace with several nearby general aviation fields, including Yuba County roughly seven nautical miles to the west. Access for transient aircraft is governed by prior-permission and coordination requirements rather than open scheduling, reflecting its status as an active military installation.

Frequently asked questions

Is KBAB open to civilian business aviation traffic?

Beale AFB (KBAB) is a private-use military airfield near Marysville, California, and access is restricted rather than open. Transient aircraft require prior permission with a 24-hour notice coordinated through Base Ops, and issued PPR is valid only within one hour of the estimated arrival time. Early or late arrivals must re-coordinate. Parking is limited, so operators should confirm approval before planning a stop.

What customs and agricultural clearance procedures apply at Beale AFB?

Customs and agricultural clearance at Beale AFB is limited to military aircraft only, according to the airfield remarks. A 24-hour prior notice is required for both customs and agricultural processing, and coordination must go through Airfield Management. CBP inspection services and a USDA compliance agreement are listed as available onsite, but civilian transient traffic should not expect to use this clearance option.

What runway does KBAB offer and what is its bearing strength?

KBAB has a single paved runway, 15/33, measuring 12,001 feet by 300 feet with a concrete, grooved surface. Two separate bearing strength listings appear in the airfield data for this runway, one showing S160 T300 ST175 ST175 SBTT620 TT490 TDT840 and another showing S81 T122 ST175 SBTT590 TT490 TDT840. Runway lighting is noted only for runway 15.

Does Beale AFB provide fuel, water, or lavatory service for transient aircraft?

Beale AFB (KBAB) offers a lavatory cart for transient aircraft, but only with prior coordination, and aircrews must perform their own lavatory service and cleanup. Potable water and ice service are not available. Weather observation service runs continuously via an automated system, with additional forecasting support available before airfield operating hours and during severe weather.
