Overview
Marshall AAF (KFRI) is a military airfield serving Fort Riley near Junction City, Kansas, operating under a 24-hour PPR requirement for all aircraft. The field is towered and equipped with a single paved runway plus a helipad, and it sits roughly 90 nautical miles from the nearest customs facility at KICT. Traffic here is modest by design, reflecting its role supporting local military flying operations rather than civilian business aviation.
Marshall Aaf Airport has one paved runway, 04/22, 4,503 ft long and 100 ft wide, with a concrete surface.

Marshall Aaf Airport has published operating constraints in four categories: access, runway notes, environmental and other notes.
Restricted: 24-hour prior permission is required for all aircraft. Contact Base Operations for coordination.
ODALS is activated for runway 04; HIRL for runway 04/22 is controlled via CTAF.
Caution: when Class D airspace is in effect, unmanned aircraft systems operate from the surface up to 2,000 feet MSL. Frangible base pole and reflectors are located 280 feet from the runway centerline.
Helipad H1 is located at the southeast corner near the hospital.
Aircraft operating on the runway do so with minimum lighting between sunset and sunrise. Migratory birds are present in the vicinity of the airfield.
The UHF CTAF frequency is 248.65.
Military use area R3602 weather frequency is 121.025.
Traffic pattern is flown both left and right. Rectangular-wing pattern altitude is 1,800 feet; flare-wing pattern altitude is 2,600 feet. Flare-wing pattern traffic is restricted to the south side only.
No hangar space is available for transient aircraft. Base Operations can be reached by fax.
Weather information is available through Base Operations. Full service operates from 0600Z Monday through 0600Z Saturday, excluding holidays, though operating hours may vary with the local flying schedule. Full observation automated equipment is in use and is augmented during operating hours. Remote weather briefing service is available through the 26th Operational Weather Squadron at Barksdale Air Force Base via a toll-free line. Airfield weather is maintained by an AN/FMQ-19 system.

Yes, Marshall AAF requires 24-hour prior permission (PPR) for all aircraft without exception. Operators must contact Base Ops in advance of arrival to secure clearance. This restriction applies uniformly regardless of aircraft type or mission, making advance coordination a firm requirement rather than a courtesy at KFRI.
Marshall AAF's primary runway, 04/22, is a paved concrete surface measuring 4,503 feet long and 100 feet wide. The field also has a small paved helipad designated H1, located at the southeast corner near the hospital. The runway length places KFRI among fields with moderate paved capacity for a military installation.
Marshall AAF uses both left and right traffic patterns, with rectangular patterns flown at 1,800 feet and flare-wing patterns at 2,600 feet. Flare-wing pattern traffic is restricted to the south side only. Pilots operating at KFRI should account for these altitude and directional constraints when planning arrivals and departures.
Marshall AAF does not have onsite customs processing. The nearest customs facility is located at KICT, approximately 90 nautical miles away. Operators requiring customs clearance in connection with flights to KFRI must plan to route through KICT or another designated port of entry beforehand.
