Overview
Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby AAF (KFHU) is a towered joint-use airfield in southeastern Arizona, serving Fort Huachuca and the city of Sierra Vista under FAA TFMSC-tracked cross-border business aviation traffic in 2025. The field pairs a 12,001-foot concrete runway with two shorter paved runways, supporting a mix of military jet operations, fixed and rotary-wing traffic, and unmanned aircraft activity within its Class D airspace.
Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby Aaf has three paved runways. The longest, 08/26, is 12,001 ft long and 150 ft wide, with a concrete surface.

Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby Aaf has published operating constraints in four categories: access, weight restrictions, runway notes and other notes.
Military jet operations occur on weekdays. Bird hazards exist in the vicinity of the runways during takeoff and approach, and deer are present on and near the airport, especially at night.
Military POL service operates 1530-2230Z Monday through Friday, excluding holidays; at other times, 24-hour prior notice is required by contacting Base Operations. POL service requires crew to attend the aircraft and specify fuel and oil requirements. Fuel is limited to 6,000 gallons. Jet A is available 1400-2230Z daily; at other times, contact Base Operations. A service fee applies.
Customs, agriculture, and immigration services are available with 72-hour prior notice for US military or DOD contract aircraft only.
Transient and remain-overnight aircraft using the military side must sign in at Base Operations prior to departing the flight line. An assault strip located 5 nautical miles northeast requires 72-hour prior permission. Nonscheduled arrivals requiring assistance should contact the Emergency Operations Center.
Military use hours are 0600-0600Z Sunday through Saturday, excluding holidays. Outside these times, 72-hour prior permission is required by contacting Base Operations. See FLIP AP/1 supplementary airport remarks.
Restriction: 24-hour prior permission is required for transient military aircraft.
Caution: expect wind shear on all runways. Airport southwest wind readings may not represent the wind on final approach.
Libby Base Operations hours are 0600-0600Z Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays. Outside these hours, 72-hour prior permission is required by contacting Base Operations.
The Class D surface area is limited to departures and full-stop landings during nighttime unmanned aircraft operations; expect delays. Manned and unmanned aircraft are not authorized in the same traffic pattern. Manned arrivals may follow an unmanned aircraft on final approach.
Taxiways G and J are limited to single-wheel aircraft up to 33,000 pounds. Taxiway K is limited to single-wheel aircraft up to 50,000 pounds. Taxiway D and the aircraft apron on the northwest side are limited to dual-wheel aircraft up to 100,000 pounds.
Restriction: Taxiway G is limited to single-wheel aircraft up to 33,000 pounds. Taxiway K is limited to single-wheel aircraft up to 50,000 pounds.
PAPI is activated for Runways 08, 26, 12, and 30. HIRL serves Runway 08/26, MIRL serves Runways 03/21 and 12/30, and perimeter lighting for H1 is controlled via CTAF.
Circling south of Runways 08 and 30 is not authorized.
Traffic pattern altitude: do not exceed 5,700 feet until reaching the departure end of runway.
Caution: overrun areas for Runways 08/26 and 12/30 are unavailable, with pavement condition below a pavement condition index of 25.
Fuel is supplied without icing inhibitor.
Military transient parking requires sign-in at Base Operations prior to leaving the flight line.
Traffic pattern: fixed-wing aircraft use the north pattern, rotary-wing aircraft use the south pattern. Pattern altitudes are 5,700 feet for fixed-wing reciprocating aircraft, 5,500 feet for rotary-wing aircraft, and 6,200 feet for fixed-wing turboprop and jet aircraft.
When Class D airspace is in effect, unmanned aerial vehicles operate from the surface up to 7,000 feet MSL.
USAF weather forecast is available from 0500-2000 local from Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Transient aircraft alert: transient aircraft should contact Base Operations to coordinate parking.
Weather observation and forecast service operates 0600-0600Z Sunday through Friday, excluding holidays; at other times, ASOS is available. Libby weather can be obtained on frequency 122.95 by contacting Base Operations.
Remote briefing service is available from the 25th Operational Weather Squadron at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, by phone or online.
The civil traffic pattern is unavailable during daylight unmanned aircraft traffic pattern operations, though departures and full-stop landings are authorized.
Traffic pattern altitude for fixed-wing unmanned aircraft is 981 feet AGL.
Edge lighting for Taxiways P and S is not available.

Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby AAF operates the longest runway in the region, Runway 08/26, at 12,001 feet of concrete with a 150-foot width. A second paved runway, 12/30, runs 5,367 feet, and a third, 03/21, runs 4,286 feet. Both secondary runways use an asphalt-concrete surface. Note that overrun areas on both 08/26 and 12/30 are unavailable, and pavement condition on those overrun sections falls below a PCI of 25. This mix of runway lengths supports both large fixed-wing traffic and smaller general aviation movements.
Jet A is listed among the fuel types at Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby AAF, along with 100 octane avgas, and neither is supplied with icing inhibitor. Military POL service operates 1400-2230Z daily for Jet A, while broader military fuel service runs 1530-2230Z Monday through Friday, excluding holidays. Fuel quantity for POL service is limited to 6,000 gallons per the operating remarks. Crew must attend the aircraft and specify fuel and oil requirements, and a service fee applies. Outside published hours, prior coordination is required.
Customs, agriculture, and immigration services at KFHU are limited to US military or DOD contract aircraft only, and require 72 hours prior notice. This is not a general public customs facility. Aircraft needing standard customs clearance should reference the nearest customs airport, Liberal Mid-America Regional (KOLS), located 27.74 nautical miles away. Dispatchers planning international arrivals into Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby AAF should account for this restriction well before flight planning, since access does not extend to civilian international arrivals.
Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby AAF publishes specific weight limits on several taxiways. Taxiways G and J are limited to single-wheel aircraft up to 33,000 pounds, while Taxiway K is limited to single-wheel aircraft up to 50,000 pounds. Taxiway D and the aircraft apron on the northwest side are limited to dual-wheel aircraft up to 100,000 pounds. These limits are also referenced under a separate restriction noting Taxiway G limited to S33 and Taxiway K limited to S50. Dispatchers should factor these figures into aircraft routing on the ramp and taxi network.
When the Class D surface area is in effect at Sierra Vista Municipal-Libby AAF, unmanned aerial vehicles operate from the surface up to 7,000 feet MSL. Manned and unmanned aircraft are not authorized in the same traffic pattern, though manned arrivals may follow an unmanned aircraft on final approach. During daylight unmanned aircraft traffic pattern operations, the civil traffic pattern is unavailable, though departures and full-stop landings remain authorized. At night, the Class D surface area is limited to departures and full-stop landings during unmanned operations. Traffic pattern altitude for fixed-wing unmanned aircraft is 981 feet AGL, and dispatchers should expect delays during these periods.
