Operating constraints

Ted Stevens Anchorage International has published operating constraints in seven categories: access, weight restrictions, runway notes, noise procedures, environmental, pavement strength and other notes.

Access

Non-radio night operations are not authorized. Non-parrot operations require prior permission at least one hour in advance. Non-radio operations require prior permission. Aircraft must provide an ETA and remain within 15 minutes of it. The control tower operates weekdays from 0730 to 1600; after hours and on holidays, contact the FAA.

FAA ramp access requires prior permission through ANC FIFO, Monday through Friday from 0600 to 1430, coordinated on frequency 135.85 or through OR AVN.

Transient military aircraft require prior permission.

Prior permission is required for ground time greater than 4 hours at airport control spots. Approval must be requested at least 48 hours before departure through ANC Gate Management, either by phone or by email to the gate management office.

Weight restrictions

Taxiway V is restricted to aircraft weighing 12,500 pounds or less and is subject to jet blast west of taxiway E.

Runway notes

The runway 15 blast pad and the taxiway J run-up area on the south side have an irregular surface.

Noise procedures

Noise sensitive areas lie to the south and east. Turbojet and turbofan departures from runways 07R, 07L, and 15 must employ the FAA close-in Noise Abatement Departure Profile or ICAO Procedure B NADP when safety permits. Contact the airport manager for further information.

Ramp parking spots P1, P2, and P3 present a jet blast hazard; use minimum thrust required when exiting.
