Whether you can land, whether you can refuel, and how customs works here.
Overview
Holloman AFB (KHMN) is a military-controlled airfield near Alamogordo, New Mexico, sitting at 4,093 feet elevation and offering three long paved runways suited to heavy fixed-wing operations. Access is private and limited, with transient civil traffic subject to scheduling coordination, restricted refueling priority, and a set operating schedule that excludes weekends and holidays. FAA TFMSC data shows business aviation crossing traffic concentrated in a handful of months each year, reflecting the field's specialized, low-volume transient use. The nearest customs point for aircraft arriving from outside the continental United States is Biggs Army Airfield (KBIF), roughly 62 nautical miles away, since on-field customs support is limited to the 49th Test and Evaluation Wing.

Holloman AFB (KHMN) is a private-use military airfield near Alamogordo, New Mexico, and is not a general civil-access airport. Transient aircraft are given last priority on refueling, and the field cites recurring refueling delays. Only a single approach and full-stop landing are authorized for transient aircraft. Operators should coordinate scheduling through airfield management well before any planned arrival.
Holloman AFB operates three paved runways: 07/25 at 12,922 feet, 16/34 at 12,134 feet, and 04/22 at 10,578 feet, all with an asphalt/concrete (PEM) surface. Heavy aircraft are prohibited from departing or arriving on runway 07/25 and are expected to land on runway 22 instead. Runway 16/34 is restricted to aircraft with a wingspan of 175 feet or less. Field elevation at KHMN is 4,093 feet.
Holloman AFB does not offer general customs service; customs and immigration support is limited to the 49th Test and Evaluation Wing for aircraft arriving from outside the continental United States. The nearest customs facility for other operators is Biggs Army Airfield (KBIF), about 62 nautical miles away. Aircraft requiring broader customs support should plan routing through that facility instead of KHMN.
Holloman AFB operates 1230-0600Z Monday through Thursday and 1230-0100Z on Friday, and it is closed weekends, holidays, resiliency days, and training days. Requests to open the field on a closed day require a minimum of two weeks prior coordination. Uncontrolled airfield operations may apply outside published hours but are only authorized for flying units listed in the base's governing instruction. Transient operators should treat KHMN's published schedule as a hard constraint on arrival planning.
